Buying vintage furniture is different from buying new — and that’s exactly why it’s worth it.
Authentic midcentury pieces carry decades of history, craftsmanship, and character. They also come with timelines, condition nuances, and purchasing processes that are important to understand before committing.
This guide is designed to set clear expectations, so your experience is smooth, informed, and aligned from the start.
When purchasing vintage midcentury furniture, you are often buying a piece that is 50 to 70 years old.
That means:
• It has lived in previous homes
• It may show minor signs of age
• It was built in an era focused on longevity — not mass turnover
Unlike modern “fast furniture,” authentic vintage pieces were constructed to be serviced, refinished, and passed down. When restoration or upholstery work is completed in our shop, it undergoes careful, detail-focused processes to preserve the integrity of the design.
Buying vintage is not about perfection. It is about integrity.
Vintage furniture will rarely look factory-new — and it shouldn’t.
Depending on whether a piece is sold as-is or refinished, you may notice:
• Subtle character marks
• Light surface wear
• Repaired veneer
• Signs of previous use consistent with age
When restoration is performed, damaged veneer, water marks, or compromised finishes are addressed. Refinished pieces are restored with attention to preserving original design intent.
Understanding the difference between “vintage as-is” and “refinished midcentury” helps you make the right decision for your space and expectations.
Quality restoration takes time.
If a piece is fully restored in-house, you can expect additional lead time — typically 8–12 weeks minimum depending on scope.
For delivery, most East Coast shipments fall within a 4–12-week window depending on routing and shipper scheduling.
We work with trusted delivery partners and are proud to help coordinate shipments to all lower 48 states. Our goal is to protect the integrity of the piece while making the process straightforward for you.
Vintage furniture isn’t rushed — and it shouldn’t be.
We strive to make the buying process extremely convenient through our website.
Each listing allows you to:
• View local pickup options
• See delivery availability within 100 miles of Cleveland
• Reserve your piece by adding it to your cart and completing checkout
If you are located beyond 100 miles and do not want to miss the opportunity to secure a piece, select “Local Pickup” at checkout. Delivery pricing will be calculated and invoiced separately.
If you require extended delivery arrangements, please reach out via email or in-browser chat. A representative will respond within 24–48 hours.
All sales are final. In unique circumstances, store credit may be offered at our discretion. We strive to provide clear descriptions and responsive communication to ensure confidence before purchase.
Clarity prevents disappointment.
We are not a traditional retail showroom with open browsing hours.
Most pieces are displayed and presentable, but some items are positioned in storage configuration to maximize space.
If you would like to visit:
• Please notify us in advance
• Let us know which items you are interested in viewing
• Share if there are specific pieces you’re sourcing
We are always happy to prepare items for serious buyers. Due to limited availability and the demands of sourcing, restoration, and brand growth, we strongly encourage visitors to arrive with specific pieces in mind.
As the brand grows, select open hours may be introduced in the future for design-focused visits.
Delivery of vintage furniture is specialized.
We coordinate with experienced shippers who understand the handling required for midcentury pieces. Most East Coast deliveries fall within a 4–12 week timeframe.
We are proud to work with partners willing to transport these pieces safely across the lower 48 states.
The priority is protection — not speed.
When you purchase from Ohio Vintage, you are not buying disposable furniture.
You are investing in a statement piece built during a period where quality mattered, materials were solid, and design was intentional.
Midcentury modern has remained a dominant aesthetic for nearly a century — and continues to grow in relevance. These pieces are meant to live with you, evolve with your space, and eventually be passed down.
That requires a different mindset than buying something meant to be replaced in five years.
When you approach vintage furniture with appreciation for its age, origin, and construction, the value becomes clear.
Buying vintage furniture should feel exciting — not uncertain.
Clear expectations around condition, timelines, delivery, and process ensure that when you reserve a piece, you do so confidently.
If you ever need clarification on a listing, restoration detail, or delivery coordination, conversations are always welcome.
Vintage rewards patience.
And when chosen thoughtfully, it lasts far longer than trends.
